On January 30th, 2022, our MP Yvan Baker hosted his Community Recognition Awards where he recognizes and thanks individuals and groups who make a difference in our community. This year our Co-President Anna Schaefer received an Award due to her many years of service and endless contributions to Markland Wood and Etobicoke Centre. As was pointed out in her nomination letter "Anna is the person that truly comes to mind when the term “walk the walk” is used. She has been an integral part of the Markland Wood Homeowners Association since 2004 and has tirelessly served in the following capacities:
President (2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014, 2020-2021, 2021-2022)
Vice President (2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2010-2011, 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020)
Secretary (2005-2006)
She coined the terms “Markland Watch” and “Circle of Friends,” created the Family Fun Day and has been the Editor of our community newsletter, “The Marklander”, since 2014. Her tireless work for the community includes work on the developments within Markland Wood including 240 Markland Drive, the Social Committee & Community Events, as well as liaising with various levels of government. She also played a crucial part in getting our St. Clement Catholic School expanded." Congratulations Anna!
