Markland Wood | Community Established in 1960

President's Update

As you may be aware, Abby Fedosoff passed away tragically and suddenly on April 17.  Abby was a beautiful and treasured member of the Markland community and a Grade 10 student at Silverthorne Collegiate and a former student of St. Clement Catholic School and Mentor College.  Taken too soon at the tender age of 15.  She will be dearly missed by her family, school community and the Markland Circle of Friends.

In remembrance of Abby her community friends are organizing a Blue Ribbon campaign.  The Blue Ribbon represents Abby's camp team colour and this colour symbolizes and brings awareness to the issue of Mental Health.

Please welcome/assist Abby's friends as they move through the streets of Markland tying blue ribbons to trees.  As you see or pass by a Blue Ribbon please take a moment to pause and remember our dear Abby and keep her grieving parents, Brad & Jen, and her beloved brother Noah in your thoughts and prayers. #BlueForAbby

Christmas Caravan 2014

Caravan 2014 was again a huge success and the residents of Markland should be very proud for being able to help so many. The day was beautiful and the donations plentiful.

Close to 18,000 lbs. of food, a truckload of clothes and almost $1,000.00 in cash. One of our biggest yet!

Our recipients were the Brothers of the Good Shepherd, The Scott Mission and the Daily Bread Food Bank. The clothing was donated to Goodwill of Toronto. Monies were distributed to The Toronto Star Santa Fund and house wares donated to the Furniture Bank.
