Well.....

Ground Hog Day has come and gone and I still don’t know if I will be singing in the rain shortly or hibernating for another 6 weeks!! As I am writing this, I see plenty of sunshine, but as I glance down I still see lots of snow!! Can’t those ground hogs get it right? Whatever the next six weeks hold, this is Canada, and we will survive another winter, but I am really looking forward to spring!

During the month of January, the MWHA continued its work. The Airport Committee met with our new Councillor, Stephen Holyday. We very much appreciated the opportunity to meet with him and to provide a context for the airport issues of concern to our residents. We also briefly touched on other issues, such as the 240 Markland Drive proposed condo development. We will meet again with Councillor Holyday at a later date to expand further on the current issues that impact our community.

Marklander Cover Contest!

Attention children 10 years of age and under! We want you to draw our March front cover celebrating Spring! Be creative and show us your talent. Use crayons, markers or pencil crayons and enter our contest. Please use an 8.5 x 8.5 sheet of paper for your drawing. The winner will receive a Cineplex Gift Card.

All entries must be submitted no later than March 1st. Please deliver your drawing to 303 Markland Drive. Include your name, age and address on a SEPARATE piece of paper. The winner will be contacted by March 6th. A release form will have to be completed in order to display the artist’s name in our publication and on our website.

If you are pursuing post secondary studies next autumn please consider applying for the 2015 Youth Leadership Award. These awards are generously funded by the MWHA and presented annually to:
A Markland Wood resident
An Individual who makes a difference in our community through volunteer/ community involvement and leadership
