Press Release..... Markland Wood 2005 Annual General Meeting

Councilor Holyday joins Patrick Clifford along with MHA Directors, Anna Schaefer and Don Matheson. Mr. Ted Golla,  Mr. Golla and Mrs. Schaefer contributed to the logo design through the MHA's logo contest. 

Over seventy residents of Markland Wood attended the grand unveiling of their new community logo (click on the logo to see more information, above to the left) and website on June 6, 2005.

 

Doug Holyday, Councillor for Ward 3 and Patrick Clifford, President of the Markland  Homes Association (MHA), did the unveiling of the logo and accompanying slogan - "A Circle of Friends". 

 

"We asked everyone in the neighbourhood to send in their ideas for a symbol that captures what it means to be a Marklander", said Clifford.

 

"We took the best ideas from the many entries and came up with an attractive result."

 

The unveiling took place at the Annual General Meeting of the Markland Homes Association. The event boasted "standing room only" as Mr. Clifford brought the residents up to date on the many projects that the MHA Board of Directors had been working on over tMHA Director Tom Napier, left, helps launch the new Markland Wood website with a live demonstration at the June 6th, 2005 AGMhe past year on their behalf. 

 

The MHA meeting also included the launch of a website, www.marklandwood.org.  It includes a history of the area, a description of the various MHA projects, benefits of living in the community, a calendar of events, past issues of the Marklander newsletters and much, much more. MHA Director, Tom Napier presented and demonstrated the website functionality to a full room.

 

The Guest Speaker at the AGM was Dr. David McKeown, Medical Officer of Health for the City of Toronto.  Dr. McKeown, himself a Markland Wood resident, spoke on "Air Quality in Toronto."

 

Dr. David McKeown, Medical Officer of Health for Toronto and a resident of Markland Wood addresses the MHA's Annual General Meeting on the topic of Air Quality in Toronto on June 6th.  The meeting was very well attended by residents with the highest turnout in many years, as the Markland Homes Association brought the residents up to date on their work over the past year.    Councilor Holyday joins MHA President Patrick Clifford (centre) and Bob Cooke, member of the Positively Promoting Markland (PPM) Committee as the new Markland Wood logo and sign is unveiled at the recent AGM.
